Scent of Surrender
"First night back after the weekend. I walked in around ten. The VIP room was private, security already on alert. The only person in the main floor was a woman standing at the bar—dark red lipstick, deep red nails, wearing that black lace number that drives men crazy. She was looking at her phone, playing with the screen like she was waiting for someone."
He opened his eyes to find Kiana watching him intently, her lips curved in a knowing smile. "Go on, baby. What did she look like?"
Trey traced the curve of her jaw with his finger, the tip of his nail catching the soft skin just below her ear. The touch was deliberate, claiming territory even as it gave him permission to continue. "She's in our crosshairs, babe. That much is clear. She belongs to us, and no one else. She was wearing a black satin dress that clung to her every move. High heels that made her walk with authority. She smelled like danger—musk and dark sweetness."
Kiana's hand tightened on his neck, pulling him closer until their lips were almost touching. The heat between them was thick enough to cut with a knife. "Did you watch her for long?"
Trey shook his head, his vision dimming with the memory. "Just five minutes before I realized who she was talking to on the phone. It was your voice on the other line, babe. She was laughing at something you said, and it drove me crazy."
She broke eye contact first, stepping back with a heavy exhale. "Did you touch her, Trey? Did you even look at another woman tonight?"
The question hung in the air, sharp and cutting. Trey looked away, his mind racing to find the right answer. Truth was his only defense here, but every word felt like betrayal. "No, babe. I didn't touch a single woman tonight. The whole time I was thinking about you—how much I love you, how much you drive me crazy."
Kiana crossed the room in three quick strides, her heels clicking on the hardwood floor. She stood directly in front of him, her breath warm against his skin. "Tell me what you want, Trey. Do you want to know everything she was talking about? Or do you want to be here, right now, knowing that your woman owns every inch of her mind and body?"
He closed his eyes, the familiar duality of their relationship crashing over him. Loyalty, compersion, and deep, unapologetic love. "I want to know everything, babe. I want to be here with you."
