Scent of Surrender

Honey

Kiana thought for a moment. She loved that he wanted to be with her so much, that he couldn't stand the idea of her out here alone. But she also loved knowing that she had the power to make him wait. "No, honey. Stay where you are. I'm almost done here."

She hung up and leaned back against the tree again, her mind racing with all the ways she could play this moment. She watched a group of college boys laughing on the sand nearby, their colognes mingling in the air. Kiana knew that Trey was watching them too—feeling the compersion, the deep love and jealousy tangled up in his heart.

She pulled out her phone again and sent Trey a picture of the ocean with the moon reflecting off the waves. "Look at this view, baby. You should come out here sometime."

Kiana loved watching him look at that picture—seeing his mind race with all the reasons why he couldn't leave the club right now. She knew that it killed him a little bit to know that she had the power to pull him away from everything he was supposed to be doing for her. And that was exactly why she loved it so much.

She leaned back against the tree, letting the cool night air wash over her. Kiana closed her eyes and breathed in the salty ocean breeze, the knowledge that Trey was watching her from across the city. She didn't need to see his face to know that he was there—his love, his devotion, his fierce protectiveness. It was all wrapped up in the quiet hum of the city, the soft whisper of the wind, and the salty taste of the sea.
